At “Id al-Fitr”, Bahraini travelling merchants and carnival operators set up small “ferris wheels and merry-go-rounds in available vacant spaces" ("Henna"). Usually, children are given little gifts of money for entertainment at the carnivals and, for example, holiday rides on obedient and scrubbed up donkeys which were previously decorated with henna and fancy harnesses.
